Heritage

Born where the
mist never lifts.

Tambapanni was the name given to this island long before it became known as Sri Lanka — a land spoken of by travellers for its fertile hills, abundant forests and extraordinary beauty.

From these storied elevations emerged teas as distinct as the landscapes that shaped them. From the cool heights of Nuwara Eliya to the windswept slopes of Uva, altitude, rainfall and season work in quiet harmony, shaping leaves of remarkable character. Each region imparts a signature that cannot be replicated elsewhere.

"Every garden has a voice. We simply let it be heard."

At Tambapanni, every leaf remains faithful to its origin. The subtle distinctions of elevation, climate and season are preserved, allowing each estate to express its own character, faithfully and without compromise.

"The differences are not always obvious. They were never meant to be."

They reveal themselves gradually — in the aroma, the texture and the lingering finish. Subtle expressions of origin, shaped by nature and time, waiting to be discovered by those who choose to savour them.

Every leaf carries the story of its origin. Every cup honours the heritage behind it.

A reminder of the stories that continue to shape us. And every place has a story worth telling.

The Ritual

A cup brewed
with intention.

Four steps, done with care. The full character of a single-origin leaf reveals itself only when brewed with patience.

The perfect cup is grown,
not made.

01

Begin with fresh water

Always start with fresh, filtered cold water. Its mineral content shapes the character of every cup — soft spring water is ideal.

Filtered or spring water preferred
02

Temperature matters

Black tea: 92–96°C. White & green: 75–85°C. Never fully boiling — excess heat bruises the leaf and turns sweetness to bitterness.

Rest boiled water 2 minutes for white & green
03

Measure generously

One heaped teaspoon — 3 to 4 grams — per 200 ml. Whole loose leaf expands greatly; give it room to breathe in a pot or wide infuser.

3–4 g per 200 ml · pot or wide infuser
04

Steep, then rest

Black 3–4 min · White 2–3 min · Green 1–2 min. Remove the leaves promptly, pour slowly, then pause. The cup rewards patience.

Remove leaves on time to prevent bitterness
